Medghyne Calonge Outlines the Benefits of Reducing Mental Stress
Mental stress is sadly common, with millions of Americans suffering from it at any given time. Even if you’re not stressed right now, you likely will be at some point in the future. Whether work, family, school, or something else is stressing you out, it’s important to get it under control. That’s why health and wellness expert Medghyne Calonge is going to discuss the benefits of stress reduction.

Poor mental health could affect your career as well. A report published by the National Institutes of Health, “Mental well-being at the workplace,” found that poor mental health can decrease productivity, and that up to 40 percent of sickness absences were due to mental health.
“Definitely, stress can hurt your career,” Medghyne Calonge says. “Not only will stress impact your productivity, but it could strain relationships with coworkers and cause other issues. You might miss out on a promotion or even lose your job. This is true for education as well. You may struggle in class and could drop out. Through stress reduction, you can increase your career and education prospects.”
Speaking of relationships, Medghyne Calonge says mental health can impact personal relationships as well.
“If you’re stressed out, it may be harder to maintain relationships with friends,” Medghyne Calonge argues. “And you may be more likely to get into fights with family or suffer strained relationships. By reducing stress, you may enjoy more harmonious personal relationships.”
The previously mentioned NIH study also suggests that mental health may contribute to physical conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. Medghyne Calonge says that good mental health may improve physical health.
“We can never forget the wellness of our bodies,” Medghyne Calonge argues, “which makes stress reduction even more important. A relaxed, healthy mental state may improve your physical health and could help reduce the risks associated with some physical diseases, like hypertension.”
